Extremely tough boots. I've had them for almost a year and use them for both tree climbing and doing truck work. I wear them daily. I chose the 16" to help support a broken tibia from a prior tree accident. I use them all the time to kick both metal and wood stuff around when loading trucks. I've also hiked 23 miles in them although they ain't comfortable for long hikes. They are a little heavy which is not great for climbing trees without gaffs, however the extra weight works great with gaffs. Great boots other then that.

Just wanted to update my original post above. Boots are now 5 years old with 4 years of constant duty. Was going to get them re-soled and altered for better hiking since I don't climb anymore but at last minute my company bought me a different pair of boots so I didn't get that done. The other brand was designed more for hiking but actually were very uncomfortable for long hikes, especially if you had much weight to haul and only held up for 1 year. I was glad to get back into my original Hoffmans and now I see the benefits of having a heavier boot when backpacking with heavier gear. Since then I'm mostly back to being a driver...but they still get abused and have held up great. Really they could probably get away with just resoling them since none of the stitching or leather has torn. Getting ready to buy another pair. Not only are they better for hiking then other pairs I've tried, but in the long run they are cheaper then constantly replacing boots every year.

Worn a pair of 16 inch tall ones everyday for 5 years working in the oilfield, hunting, and in all weather conditions best boots ever made.
