Sole: Rubber sole with robust street tread, superior bending comfort, highly wear resistant, non-slip traction – even in cold weather. The low-weight PU, impact-absorbing wedge ensures outstanding walking characteristics. Very good insulation from cold. The sole is resistant against heat, oil and gasoline, non-marking.
HAIX® AS System: Optimal support and shock absorption in the arch provided by an anatomically formed last. Improved heel and arch design provides support while securing the foot, allowing for increased comfort and range of motion in the spacious toe box

I got these for my everyday boots, so I don't have to wear my pole climbing boots on days I'm not hooking.
They are EVERYTHING I wanted, they are light, very well built, comfortable right out of the box and though I haven't put them to any test myself, very protective.
The thing that really makes these stand out for me is that they almost drop off my feet as soon as I unlace them. I don't really understand it because they fit snugly but as soon as the laces are undone my heel just pops right. Something that does not happen with other boots I have or still own.
The Achilles area is very flexible as they have a more supple material in that area for flexion and a leather strip over the top which gives protection but not resistance. Nice idea.
Overall, I'm quite happy, they weigh about 2 ounces less than the boots I was replacing and a world more comfortable.
I highly recommend.
